The Presiding Judge in Sayreville Court is the Honorable James F. Weber, P.J.M.C. The Honorable Michael T. Sica, J.M.C. also sits in Sayreville Court. The Prosecutor is Francis “Mack” Womack, III, Esq. and the Public Defender is Frederick Roselli, Esq.
Court sessions are every Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm and Thursday morning at 8:30 am. Private citizen complaints are heard on the third Thursday morning session of every month.
Whereas some courts will not check you in prior to the start of designated court session, Sayreville almost always starts check-in early. When you enter the building, you are required to go through metal detectors and then into the Court for check-in. Court staff are very friendly and accommodating. They will speak with you and then give you a number to see the prosecutor. Once everyone is checked in, court staff will call out a range of numbers to line up and see the prosecutor. When you speak with the prosecutor, he may offer you a plea, in which case you go back into the court and speak with the judge, plead and receive your sentence. If you are not able to come to a resolution, your matter will likely be adjourned and set for trial. You should note that the date on your summons is usually not the date you are required to appear, but a “control date” by when you either have to pay the summons or call the court and plead not guilty.
